Arizona’s history started with the strong industries of mining, lumbering, cattle, and agriculture, but our state has seen an incredible vibrancy of manufacturing growth since the 1940s. Technology, electronics, aeronautics, and many more industries continue to bring economic impact and jobs, and this month we celebrate these manufacturing impacts!

Arizona currently has 170,000 manufacturing workers and more than 4,000 manufacturing companies, and the state has an approximate economic output of $26.31 billion. We also recognize the quality small businesses that are directly tied to the manufacturing industry.

The excitement of innovation and start-ups, which can lead to more manufacturing, is the perfect combination for Arizona’s future. Our universities strive for the greatest research and collaboration, which continue to make Arizona a leader in innovation.

Arizona’s manufacturing workforce of the future should include today’s youth having ample opportunity to career pathways, apprenticeships, and strong career and technical education (CTE) programs in high school. When our youth have an ability to experience different trades, skills, guidance, and innovation, their eyes will open to a world of opportunity.

Let’s celebrate Arizona Manufacturers Month with a strong push, once more, to urge Congress to pass the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement. This trade agreement is not only great for our nation but will also have an even more positive impact for Arizona.

Made and grown in Arizona! We celebrate you and thank you for being a part of our economy and lives!
